The Mid-America Certified Development Company at Pittsburg State University promotes business growth and job creation in Southeast Kansas by helping small businesses secure long-term loans to finance their operations.
The CDC carries out its work in collaboration with the U.S. Small Business Administration, private-sector lenders, and Southeast Kansas, Inc., a regional alliance of business leaders.
In 2008, the CDC's work resulted in loans totaling more than $.5 million to 17 Southeast Kansas businesses in the retail, manufacturing, and service industries. These projects helped impact 69 jobs in the region.
The CDC also provides a range of other services, including business advocacy, help with business expansions and relocations, and assistance with strategic decision-making.
All CDC efforts aim at the same goal-enhancing the economic health and quality of life in Southeast Kansas.
